My Poetry

Sweet young maiden, soft and light,
Lit a candle for her love one night

Beauty and light filled the room
While her lover sang her a tune

Short was his visit yet full of life.
He left quietly with little strife.

The maiden was left sad and alone
Gazing at the candle's warm soft glow

She wished her lover's swift return
While the candle continued to burn

After a while with a tear and a sigh
She blew on on the candle with all her might

But it burned on without even a flicker
The flame only grew slightly stronger and thicker

The maiden dried her tears away
And placed the candle apart on a tray

The maiden knew the time was not right
For the flame that burned so bright

The candle burned for year after year
Sometimes far and sometimes near

Sometimes it filled the room with a glow
Sometimes it was in a closet where no one could know

The maiden has no bitterness anger or regret
She is no longer angry, no longer upset

She is filled with forgiveness and unconditional love
She wants him happy not imprisoned from above

Years later the woman, a maiden no more,
Who has snuffed out candles by the score

Finds the hidden candle still burning bright
Never forgotten, just pushed out of sight

Holds the candle dearly with a smile
Then puts it away again for a while

She waits most patiently maybe for ever
It is ok if not now, its ok if its never
